We have a box
Jessie and Mike Smiles, Gerry, Adira, Arseniy, David W, Vince, Mike G and Kenny each jumped right in and helped Sheri and I over 13 hours today. We have a lot to show for it. Smiles, good times… and a brand new box that’s all purdy and bolted to the truck frame. Our crew roxs!

Square 144 7/8th
Squaring the top frame gives us a diagonal of 144 7/8th.
Sheri wanted to figure out the optimum size for the second floor hole so we took a field trip over to the Lighthouse folks in Bay 6 to look at what they came up with. We settled on a 2 foot square opening.

Settling in
We are really starting to get the flow of the new shop. David was there, again, to welcome Gerald, Tristan, Joe, Charlie, Krista, Lara, Michael, Sheri and I as we moved the project forward.

Back at AmSteel – 2016!
That didn’t take long.
Started the day at CASS recycling the truck bed. Ended the day moving into our new shop space with the Envelope Engineers.
Life is Grand™
Oh. The truck currently weights 3,750 pounds.

Sheri, Mike and I jumped on it right at 11. Craig Backer and Mike Giannico stopped in to give some advice. It took a while to demo the bed and Mike almost caught his hair on fire. However, this gave Sheri and I plenty of space to refine the design.

Dimensioning and discussing
Sheri and I spent Monday preparing for the big work day Wednesday. Turns out we can extend the load behind the back axel two thirds of the wheel base. Our wheel base is 11 feet which means we can extend behind the rear axle almost 4 feet making the truck bed length up to 11 …
